Original Sin and Salvation are a Scam (Jon Cohen - Unconvinced live stream on YouTube)

If humanity is supposedly born broken because two people ate fruit thousands of years ago… and the only escape is accepting the cure offered by the same system that condemned you in the first place…
then maybe we should ask an uncomfortable question:

What if the whole thing functions like a scam?
We’ll be looking at:
• The logic of original sin
• Why inherited guilt makes no moral sense
• Why “salvation” only works after convincing you you’re doomed
• Fear, shame and obedience in religious systems
• Whether a loving god would design reality this way at all

Cannabis is not an effective treatment for common mental health conditions, says review

But a trade body insisted cannabis did relieve the symptoms of anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

Mike Morgan-Giles, the chief executive of the Cannabis Industry Council, said it was vital that patients with psychiatric conditions could access the treatment they needed.

He added: "Real-world evidence including findings from T21 consistently shows that medical cannabis reduces symptoms for patients with anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

"Regrettably, this latest paper adds more heat than light and does not adequately reflect how clinical prescribing is undertaken in the UK."…

"Ex-Gay" Christian Was Taught to Hate Himself Over Vibes | Justin DZ & Sara LeavingFaith (YouTube)

Luke from Minnesota calls in to defend Christianity using intuition and Romans 1, claiming everyone knows God exists but suppresses it. When Justin and Sara challenge his evidence, Luke admits he relies on feelings and that creation "just obviously" points to God.

The conversation takes a darker turn when Luke reveals he's a former gay man who abandoned homosexuality through Christianity. The hosts express compassion while pointing out Luke has been taught to hate himself.

As the discussion continues, Luke admits uncertainty about biblical authority and his pastor's teachings, yet lives by rigid rules based on "Holy Spirit guidance" which Justin dismisses as "just vibes." Sara confronts Luke with characteristics of cult behavior that match his church experience, including claims of special knowledge and distrust of outside information.

The call ends with Sara offering resources for leaving high-control religion and both hosts expressing heartbreak that Luke has been programmed to hate who he is. Throughout, the hosts use Socratic questioning to expose contradictions in Luke's epistemology.

Something Is Wrong With Russia’s Children (Anna Nemtsova, The Atlantic)

As violence has come to surround Russian youth, many seem to have become more violent themselves.

"When the boy, identified by prosecutors as Timofey K., arrived at his school, located outside Moscow, he went to the bathroom to put on his gear, which he’d branded with neo-Nazi symbols and racist slogans. Then he filmed himself patrolling the hallways and asking people, at knifepoint, what nationality they were. Several gave the wrong answer, and Timofey stabbed them. Most survived, but a 10-year-old boy from a Tajik family did not..."

HHS terminates thousands of grants for substance use, mental health worth billions - POLITICO

"If these programs were so abhorrent to the White House it makes one wonder why the president signed that legislation," Kessler told POLITICO… "Kneecapping and defunding the fight against the opioid and mental health epidemics will not 'Make America Healthy Again,' it will put American lives on the line," said Sen.
