Families of US sailors denounce Trump and Hegseth for ‘dismissing their experiences and calling them liars’
“I’m running very low on energy. I am burnt out,” he said in a separate text.
In a third, he said: “I eat when I can. My coworkers make sure everyone in our unit eats and we all try to share food whenever someone gets more than normal. Keep praying for us. We are doing our best to make sure we protect our country and our families.”
The mother said that her son had been on many deployments with the navy. This was the first time that he had ever indicated a lack of food and other basic supplies. “Something genuinely wrong has happened,” she said…
“Our military deserve the best of the best,” she said. “They are fighting for our country, and the government has a duty to provide them with the basics. If they’re losing weight, that means you’re starving them.”…

‘Graveyard for living people’: New report describes HORROR inside ICE’s largest detention center
A new report issued jointly by the American Civil Liberties Union and Human Rights Watch details the hellish conditions inside Camp East Montana, America’s country’s largest ICE detention center in Texas. It alleges rampant abuse inside the facility, including brutal physical attacks by the guards and people being denied necessary medical care. The report relied on interviews from former detainees who survived it.

Worst states to live in: red or blue?
CNBC’s worst-states-to-live-in list sent Republicans into a meltdown because every state in the bottom ten voted for Trump, but the raw data tells a more complicated story than the outrage machine wants. Red states often do have lower taxes and cheaper living costs, but the tradeoff shows up in lower median incomes, higher uninsured rates, higher poverty, and weaker public investment. Texas and Tennessee can be great for business, cheaper for rent, and still brutal when people need healthcare, schools, or a safety net.

Lawsuit claims home for vulnerable girls was a "house of horrors"
Allegations in the lawsuit range from unsanitary or inadequate living conditions, to improper use of restraints, to physical and sexual abuse, said Moose Scheib, one of the attorneys behind the lawsuit.
One common tactic Vista Maria staff used, according to Scheib, was to put girls as young as 12 on unnecessary psychiatric medication, claiming they were suicidal. Then they would strip the girls of their clothes and lock them in a room, supposedly for their own protection...
