The US district judge Jeannette Vargas in New York on Friday handed down the temporary ruling hours after New York and New Jersey authorities said construction would halt for lack of funding.

New Jersey Democrats call to shutter ICE facility after detainee’s death - POLITICO

"This tragedy is not an isolated incident, and we have seen neglect, abuse, and cruelty from this administration as they strip people of the rights this country affords everyone, including those in detention," McIver said in a statement. "Delaney Hall must be closed immediately and a full, independent, investigation needs to take place."…

And Rep. Rob Menendez, who was with McIver and Baraka during the oversight visit earlier this year, said he and others "have warned of the terrible conditions at this private immigration detention facility" and "the Trump Administration and ICE have completely disregarded safety, basic human rights, and common decency at detention centers across the country."…

Mikie Sherrill’s attorney general pick for New Jersey vows to tackle affordability — and Trump - POLITICO

Judge rules ex-Trump lawyer unlawfully serving as US attorney in New Jersey

In late July, when Habba's four-month temporary appointment was coming to a close, it became clear that she would not get support from home state senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim, both Democrats, meaning her chances of Senate approval were nil.

Trump then withdrew her nomination, and federal judges in New Jersey exercised their power under the law to replace Habba with a career prosecutor when Habba's temporary appointment lapsed. The attorney general, Pam Bondi, retaliated by firing that prosecutor and moved to re-install Habba as acting US attorney...

Democrats condemned the removal of Grace. "The firing of a career public servant, lawfully appointed by the court, is another blatant attempt to intimidate anyone that doesn't agree with them and undermine judicial independence," Democratic US senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim from New Jersey said in a joint statement...

"Chief Farley has, on several occasions, pulled his pants down and defecated on the floor in front of his entire office staff."

Guzman added: "He has also left feces on the bathroom floor, apparently with the intent of having someone unknowingly step on it."…

"Chief Farley chases me around his office," Derrin wrote. "After cornering me in the filing area with no further room for retreat, he sticks a hypodermic needle through my jeans into the tip of my penis."…

"The chief would shave his body hair on people's property, their persons, and their food," adding: "He was also fond of scraping fluids from his underwear on to people seated in the chief's office."

Fury grows as US politicians demand answers about mysterious drones

"To the contrary, upon review of available imagery, it appears that many of the reported sightings are actually manned aircraft that are being operated lawfully," Kirby said. Justice Dept. opens civil rights probe into Trenton, N.J., police - The Washington Post

Justice officials cited allegations that officers used excessive force against residents stopped for minor traffic offenses, even in cases where they complied with commands and were not resisting. In some cases, they said, officers escalated confrontations with residents who attempted to lawfully observe and record their actions…

"These allegations are serious and credible," she told reporters during an online news conference. "We recognize the challenges that Trenton and [the police] face in addressing violent crime. Police Officer Who Shot a Man in the Back Is Charged With Assault - The New York Times

"Under the law, discharging a firearm is meant to be a last resort, used by officers when they or the public face an imminent threat of death or serious injury. That just wasn't the situation here," Mr. Eicher said in a statement. "This lapse of judgment, this violation of the law and police procedures, has had a steep cost for the victim and it must have consequences."…
