Biden urges FCC to undo Pai’s legacy—but it can’t until he picks a third Democrat | Ars Technica

… "The Order tackles four issues that limit competition, raise prices, and reduce choices for Internet service," the Biden fact sheet's broadband section said. "More than 200 million US residents live in an area with only one or two reliable high-speed Internet providers, leading to prices as much as five times higher in these markets than in markets with more options…

Trump's FCC votes to take $2 billion from cities and towns and give it to telecoms - Daily Kos

Donald Trump's Federal Communications Commission, headed by former Verizon lawyer Ajit Pai, has done it again. This time, instead of ripping away consumer protections, Pai is continuing the telecom policy of doing away with competition, while stealing money out of the country's municipal coffers. ....

Was $200,000 from AT&T enough to buy off Trump and Ajit Pai on net neutrality repeal? - Daily Kos

This week Senate Democrats will force a vote to restore net neutrality on the Senate floor. Proponents currently have the backing of 47 Democrats and two independents who caucus with Democrats as well as Republican Senator Susan Collins. With the prolonged absence of Senator John McCain due to illness, proponents believe they will win on a 50-49 vote. What great timing! ....

This is Sinclair, 'the most dangerous US company you've never heard of' - politics

Just remember, Trump, Pai, and Kushner worked to help bring this around. Sinclair wouldn't have reached the amount of power they have now if they hadn't had political ties in power. ...

FCC Commissioner: Our Policy Is ‘Custom Built’ for Right-Wing Sinclair Broadcasting -- The Daily Beast

Sometime this spring, the Federal Communications Commission is expected to take a step without precedent in the history of U.S. communications policy. Once upon a time a watchdog agency, the FCC is going to approve a near-$4 billion merger between two companies that will result in the parent company's programming—and probably, not coincidentally, its right-wing politics—being broadcast into 72 percent of American homes. ....

The FCC Tried To Hide Net Neutrality Complaints Against ISPs | Techdirt

When FCC boss Ajit Pai first proposed killing popular net neutrality protections (pdf), he insisted he would proceed "in a far more transparent way than the FCC did" when it first crafted the rules in 2015. That promise has proven to be a historically-hollow one.

Pai's agency is already facing numerous lawsuits for refusing to disclose conversations with ISP lobbyists about the plan to kill net neutrality, refusing to disclose net neutrality complaints filed with the agency, refusing to be transparent about a DDoS attack the FCC apparently concocted to downplay the "John Oliver effect," and for ignoring FOIA requests related to its failure to police website comment fraud during the public comment period.....

After Attacking Random Hollywood Supporters Of Net Neutrality, Ajit Pai Attacks Internet Companies | Techdirt

So, we already talked about FCC chair Ajit Pai's odd attacks on a small group of Hollywood celebrities for daring to support net neutrality, but his other point of attack seemed even more random: internet companies. Remember, the whole point of Pai doing this -- according to his very own words -- is to get the government out of the internet and to allow for what he calls "internet freedom." But, it's funny, because that's not really the message you'd get if you heard Pai speaking over the past few days. In his talk on Tuesday he seemed to be suggesting that perhaps Twitter, in particular, needed a heavy dose of regulation:....

The FCC Wants to Kill Net Neutrality. But Congress Will Pay the Price | WIRED

FCC CHAIR AJIT Pai’s plan to repeal net neutrality provisions and reclassify broadband providers from “common carriers” to “information services” is an unprecedented giveaway to big broadband providers and a danger to the internet. The move would mean the FCC would have almost no oversight authority over broadband providers like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T.....

ThinkProgress.org: Trump's FCC chairman says Twitter banning Nazis is an attack on the conservative movement

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Ajit Pai is going on the offensive in his attempt to allow corporations to carve up the internet for cash. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai intends to cook the books to make it look like the US has great internet

Now the FCC, under the direction of open internet foe Ajit Pai, is planning on cooking the books to say that having a cell phone is the equivalent of having "broadband access." This in order to say that the FCC doesn't need to work on actually expanding broadband access—one of its charges.....
