U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) made headlines in the national spotlight when he appeared on the Find Out Podcast this week after participating in our State Of The Union livestream a few weeks ago. Senator Van Hollen returns to the show to cover two big issues on everyone's minds: affordability and war with Iran.
First off, Senator Van Hollen discusses how his bill, The Working Americans' Tax Cut Act, would tackle rising prices by raising taxes on billionaires and giving a huge tax cut to 130 million working Americans. The bill has 19 Senate co-sponsors and is endorsed by the AFL-CIO, the Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association. Van Hollen explains how it works.
We also discuss that Trump's disastrous war with Iran is not only costing us a billion dollars a day but is also costing the lives of 13 servicemen and 2,000 civilians including 150 school girls. Van Hollen points out that Trump, who lied about being the "anti-war President," keeps changing his reasoning and rationale for starting a war with Iran and even Trump voters in his home state of Maryland are turning on him.

Trump Flirts With the Ultimate Tax Cut: No Income Taxes at All - The New York Times
Either way, both liberal and conservative experts have dismissed his idea as mathematically impossible and economically destructive. Even if Republicans control Congress, lawmakers are unlikely to dismantle the income tax system. Yet Mr. Trump's combination of tax cuts and tariff increases has been central to his political pitch.
"There is a way, if what I'm planning comes out," Mr. Trump said of ending income taxes...

Democrats demand answers to how a tax break benefiting Trump and Kushner got into coronavirus bill
In addition to the extra gift to corporate America Republicans slipped into the massive coronavirus bill, allowing the Federal Reserve to keep its deliberations secret, there's also a big tax break to wealthy taxpayers that somehow got into the bill without Democrats knowing about it. Two Democrats, Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett, are trying to get to the bottom of it.

Critics claims Trump’s ‘confession’ on permanent payroll tax cut is ‘an excuse to destroy our Social Security system’ – Raw Story
President Donald Trump on Tuesday once again voiced his support for slashing the payroll tax—the primary funding mechanism for Social Security and Medicare—and said he would be calling for such a cut even if the U.S. were not currently in the midst of a nationwide public health and economic emergency.
“I would love to see a payroll tax cut,” Trump, who has repeatedly vowed to “save” Social Security, said at the end of the Coronavirus Task Force briefing Tuesday evening. “I think on behalf of the people it would be quick… There are many people who would like to see it as a permanent tax cut.”

That meager tax break you got from Trump? His latest tariffs are going to erase it - Daily Kos
The last round of tariffs, J.P. Morgan analysts estimate, will bump costs to consumers from $600 after the first two rounds to $1,000. That's eating up the majority of tax break of about $1,300 from the 2017 tax cuts. J.P. Morgan's chief U.S. equity strategist, Dubravko Lakos-Bujas, says it's particularly bad for consumers as opposed to farmers who are getting Trump's bribes to make up for their losses because "there is no simple way to compensate consumer." .....
