“As fossil-fuelled storms, floods, and soaring costs wreck communities, oil executives like Shell’s Wael Sawan are popping champagne on the deck of a sinking planet. We are paying with our lives and paychecks while they cash in on our misery,” said Philip Evans, a senior campaigner at Greenpeace…

Shell accused of ‘profiteering bonanza’ after record first-quarter profits of $9.6bn
"The scale of profiteering displayed today by Shell and earlier this week BP is one of the corporate scandals of our times. And this is practically untouched by Rishi Sunak's so-called windfall tax.
"Not taking any action against 'Big Oil' means the profiteering plundering will continue without end."…

'Incredibly Disturbing' Docs Reveal Oil Giant Shell Knew About Climate Impacts Even Earlier
"Shell already began collecting knowledge about climate change in the 1960s. The company not only kept well abreast of climate science, but also funded research. As a result, Shell already knew in the 1970s that burning fossil fuels could lead to alarming climate change."
Faced with a global oil crisis, rather than using its climate information to publicly sound the alarm and shift to cleaner practices, the company "focused instead on a nonsustainable profit model," launching Shell Coal International in 1974…

'Twisted': BP and Shell CEOs See Pay Double as Workers Struggle to Heat Homes
"While the rest of us struggle to pay our energy bills, the pay packages of fossil fuel giant bosses are doubling. Why are they allowed to profit from our misery?"
Fossil fuel corporations' ballooning profits and executive pay packages have provoked calls for far-reaching action to protect consumers from the high gas prices and electricity bills driving a historic cost-of-living crisis.
"Instead of allowing these huge payouts to end up in the pockets of CEOs, the government must step in with a proper tax on the oil industry and its profits, channel the money into stopping energy waste from homes, and invest in green heating schemes," Greenpeace U.K. campaigner Mel Evans toldReuters on Friday…

Criticism intensifies after big oil admits ‘gaslighting’ public over green aims | Climate crisis | The Guardian
The new documents are "the latest evidence that oil giants keep lying about their commitments to help solve the climate crisis and should never be trusted by policymakers", said Richard Wiles, president of the Center for Climate Integrity.
"If there is one thing consistent about the oil and gas majors' position on climate, it's their utter inability to tell the truth," Wiles added…

Yet Another Oil Spill Wreaks Havoc On The Gulf Of Mexico And Nearby Coastal Communities
A Shell oil facility has leaked nearly 90,000 gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, according to federal authorities. The spill has left a two-mile by thirteen-mile sheen in the Gulf, approximately 165 miles southwest of New Orleans. A helicopter first noticed the spill near Shell’s Brutus platform on Thursday morning, according to Shell spokeswoman Kimberly Windon.
“There are no drilling activities at Brutus, and this is not a well control incident,” Windon told the Associated Press. Instead, authorities believe the leak came from a release of oil from subsea infrastructure, from a line connecting four wells. According to the Wall Street Journal, Shell had dispatched boats Friday to begin cleaning up the spill....
