Opinion | JD Vance Has a Bunch of Weird Views on Gender - POLITICO

But the one instinct that Vance and the rest of the New Right share is a deep skepticism about modern feminism and gender equality — or what the New Right calls "gender ideology." Overt chauvinism that seeks to roll back much of feminism's gains is one of the most obvious unifying threads of this varied movement, and Trump's choice of Vance anoints and entrenches it into the culture-war side of the MAGA movement...

Opinion | Attacking Kamala Harris for Not Having Kids Will Backfire - The New York Times

When JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, was running for Senate in 2021, he told Fox News's Tucker Carlson:

We're effectively run, in this country, via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too. And it's just a basic fact, if you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, A.O.C. — the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?

Republicans claim a ‘coup’ attempt to delegitimize Kamala Harris’s candidacy

Such litigation would likely be little more than a public relations effort – legal experts have said there is no barrier to another candidate appearing as the Democratic nominee on state ballots because Biden was never formally nominated. Whoever is eventually nominated at the Democratic national convention in August will be able to meet state deadlines for ballot access…

Legal actions attempting to block the nominated ticket from appearing on the general election ballot would have no merit and would be rapidly disposed of by the courts."…

Writer Shalom Auslander catalogs his lifelong battle with self-contempt in 'Feh' (Tonya Mosley; Fresh Air podcast)

The story of "Feh" is just the first story in a long book of similar stories, the collection of which is a book called "You Suck." The first part of "You Suck" is known as the Old Testament. Spoiler alert - Moses, the main character, dies before reaching his goal. Why? Because he was feh. The second part of "You Suck" is known as the New Testament. Spoiler alert - it ends with God making a huge wine press, filling it with millions of people, and crushing them to death. Why? Guess. Most people who read the Old Testament don't read the New. Most people who read the New Testament don't read the Old. They don't have to. They're the same story - feh.

LifeWise Academy: The Project 2025 Connected Religious Release Program in Public Schools (Bradley Onishi and Daniel Miller; Straight White American Jesus podcast)

Brad interviews activist and parent Natalie Hastings, LifeWise Academy, a religious release program in public schools that takes children out of their school day for Bible study. Hastings provides insights into the program’s growth, its impact on students, and its connections to larger political movements such as Project 2025. The discussion highlights concerns about the program’s effects on school resources, inclusion, mental health, and the push for policies mandating such programs in different states.

Natalie Hastings is a public school parent who began tracking the efforts of national extremism on public schools when her own district elected four new board members who promised to “fight CRT,” canceled an opt-in Racial Diversity Awareness Day, and passed a “Culture of Kindness” resolution to restrict teaching and discussions on race, gender identity, and inclusion. She educates and activates local communities to protect the rights of every student through Honesty for Ohio Education, an alliance of 70+ nonprofit organizations and its Honesty Teams Network, a partner in HEAL Together Race Forward’s #PublicSchoolStrong initiative. Hastings also manages research for Ohioans Against Extremism, (OHAgainstExtremism.org) a new website launching in August 2024.
