Capital One says it closed Trump Organization’s accounts after anti-money-laundering review

Capital One Financial hit back on Friday against a lawsuit over its decision to close the Trump Organization’s bank accounts years ago, stating that it did so after a review by anti-money-laundering experts.

The disclosure marks the first time a bank has formally tied money-laundering concerns to Donald Trump’s family business. Capital One is seeking to dismiss the case by casting doubt on claims of illegally debanking – or denying services on religious or political grounds – the Trump Organization...

Trump’s Gift to Drug Cartels, Money Launderers, and Terrorists – Mother Jones

Who says so? The US Government Accountability Office. It recently released a report assessing Trump’s decision to loosen reporting requirements for shell companies. These are corporations that can have legitimate uses but are also set up so people or entitites can evade taxes, launder money, hide assets, and obscure the true beneficiaries of financial transactions. For instance, a sanctioned Russian oligarch might be able to use a shell company—or a string of them—to buy real estate in the United States and keep secret his ownership of the property...

During the 2020 presidential race, Trump’s campaign, according to the Campaign Legal Center, deployed an LLC to launder “$170 million in spending to conceal payments to people close to the Trump family and campaign.”…

“Wealthy Chinese investors are quietly funneling tens of millions of dollars into private companies controlled by Elon Musk” through “opaque structures” and “an arrangement that shields their identities from public view.”…

Shocking New Evidence of DOJ Epstein Coverup!

In case you thought the Epstein files couldn't get any worse or you thought that Pam Bondi's cover-up of the Epstein files couldn't get any worse, hold on tight. Because here comes new revelations about a DEA investigation that seemed to disappear right around the time of the beginning of Trump's first term - an investigation of "Jeffrey Epstein and 14 other people for drug trafficking, prostitution and money laundering."

When Senator Ron Wyden asked for an unredacted copy of the report of this investigation, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche blocked the report from being delivered to Senator Wyden.

The Epstein cover-up intensifies.

David Kirkpatrick on Trump’s Immense and Shameless Profiteering (Al Franken Podcast)

One of Donald Trump's most successful initiatives in his second term has been making himself and his family richer than ever. We're joined by The New Yorker’s David Kirkpatrick, who earlier this year wrote a piece outlining all the ways the legendary grifters have cashed in during Trump’s presidency.

The Trump family has long been associated with shameless cash grabs, but we have reached new levels of corruption by using his office for their money-making schemes: international real estate deals, Trump-branded merchandise, and cryptocurrency.

David lays out the long list of ethical implications involved and calculates the staggering amount of money Donald Trump and his family have made off of his presidency.

Republicans say states are pulling a fast one on Medicaid - POLITICO

Advocates for Medicaid patients say Republicans are wrong to call the taxes abusive.

"This is just an attempt to cut a critical source of state share that states use by inaccurately calling it money laundering to disguise a cut to Medicaid," said Joan Alker, executive director and co-founder of the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University, during a media briefing on Tuesday.

And hospitals, which pay the taxes and are also speaking out forcefully against Medicaid cuts, say the taxes help boost the quality of care and access to it...

Here’s how dishonest James Comer’s Biden allegations are - The Washington Post

Comer has for months pointed to Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) centered on "the Biden family," which here again primarily means Hunter Biden. House Democrats note that many of the SARs include "erroneous or unfounded claims" and none focus on the president.

The Republican uses the word "launder" specifically because it sounds nefarious. "Shell companies laundering money" sounds worse than "Hunter Biden's law firm paid one of his kids a couple hundred bucks." Which describes one of those "10 family members": A source with direct access to the bank records provided to Oversight tells The Post that one of the president's grandchildren, then under 18, received $200 and $500 (several months apart) from Owasco PC, the LLC that was Hunter Biden's law firm. In total, Hunter's child received $9,000 in 10 payments from the firm over two years, according to the available records — most $500 or less. Why isn't clear, but this does not seem like the traditional understanding of "money laundering."

Other payments to family members include those loan repayments to Joe Biden and payments to Hallie Biden, Hunter's former sister-in-law with whom he was "sharing expenses," according to a statement made to NBC News earlier this year. That is not evidence of a serious crime...
