WATCH: Schumer refutes Trump legal team’s claims | Trump impeachment trial

After President Donald Trump’s legal team began its arguments in the Senate impeachment trial on Saturday, Jan. 25, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer held a news conference to rebut the claims and again call for additional witnesses and documents. Schumer said the Trump team had “gaping holes” in its arguments. “The president’s counsel did something they did not intend,” Schumer said. “They made a really compelling case for why the Senate should call witnesses and documents. They kept saying there are no eyewitness accounts, but there are people who have eyewitness accounts.” The House of Representatives impeached Trump in December on two articles of impeachment--abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The Senate trial will determine whether Trump is acquitted of those charges or convicted and removed from office.

An Impeachment Smoking Gun: The Damning Letter Trump Can’t Cover Up – Mother Jones

Smoking guns ain’t what they used to be. Yet in the swell of Trump chaos and impeachment news, this new material did not get the full stop-the-presses notice it deserved. And, consequently, it did not alter the overall shape and political dynamics of the Trump-Ukraine scandal. But it should have.....
