Religion Clause: Texas Proposes Rule Change On Handling of Fetal Tissue

As reported by Catholic News Agency, on July 1 the Texas Health and Human Services Commission proposed rule amendments (full text) that would change the way in which health care facilities dispose of fetal tissue from an abortion or miscarriage. Fetal tissue, regardless of how early in a pregnancy, would need to be disposed of by cremation or burial, instead of being treated in the same way as other pathological waste. The proposed change comes less than one week after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Texas' restrictive regulation of abortion clinics.

House Democrats Call Out Marsha Blackburn For 'Reckless Disregard' After Unredacted Memo Goes Public

In March, the House investigation into Planned Parenthood took a dark turn, subpoenaing a list of names of doctors and researchers involved in fetal tissue research. At the time, Democrats on the committee likened it to a witch hunt.

Now, Democrats are calling out Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) for her “reckless disregard” for the privacy and safety of those medical professionals — following the public, unredacted release of the some of their names.

“This Panel has shown a reckless disregard for protecting private information and now a troubling possibility has come to light,” Ranking Member Jan Schakowsky said in a press statement. “Inexplicably, anti-abortion activists have learned of confidential information provided to the Panel — raising the specter that the Republicans may be funneling confidential information back to those individuals and groups.”...

98 Members Of Congress Call For The ‘Witch Hunt’ Against Planned Parenthood To End

On Thursday, 98 members of Congress wrote a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and the Chairman of the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TEN), asking that they disband the panel and end the investigation into Planned Parenthood’s fetal tissue research.

Man Behind Planned Parenthood Sting Videos Says California DOJ Raided Home, Took Videos

An anti-abortion activist who made undercover videos at Planned Parenthood clinics said in a social media posting that California Department of Justice agents raided his home Tuesday.

Agents seized all video footage from his apartment, along with his personal information, David Daleiden said in a Facebook post. Daleiden, the founder of a group called the Center for Medical Progress, said agents left behind documents that he contends implicate Planned Parenthood in illegal behavior related to the handling of fetal tissue...
