The same eye surgery cost husband thousands more than his wife : Shots - Health News : NPR

…Even for hospital-based care, Saint Agnes' overall charges are high for cataract surgery, said Dr. Ira Weintraub, chief medical officer for WellRithms, which analyzes health care prices for employers. 
"The hospital charged three to four times the amount of what this surgery typically costs, which is around $3,000."

AP poll: Hispanic, black Americans taking bigger financial hit from coronavirus | TheHill

Hispanic and black Americans have faced harsher economic impacts from the coronavirus pandemic than white Americans have, according to a new survey. Thirty-seven percent of Hispanic Americans and 27 percent of black Americans said they have been unable to pay at least one bill because of COVID-19, while only 17 percent of white Americans said the same in the Associated Press-NORC poll released Wednesday.
