‘You can stop your war’: Zelenskyy’s open letter to Putin – in full

“…If you do not personally come to the conclusion that it is time to end this war, Ukraine will continue fighting for its existence. We will have those who support us.

But you, too, will have to fight much harder for your own existence – not Russia’s, but your own. And this is not a threat from me or from Ukraine. It is a fact of Russian history that you know well: when Russia grows tired, change comes…”

Mood in Russia turns against Putin

“There’s definitely been a shift in mood among the elites this year … there is profound disappointment in Putin,” said a well-connected business leader, adding that there was “a growing sense that some kind of catastrophe is looming”. “

No one believes everything will suddenly collapse tomorrow,” the source said.

“But there is a growing realisation that utterly senseless, self-destructive decisions keep being made. People who once defended Putin no longer do. Any sense of a future has disappeared.”

According to the Financial Times, the meeting descended at times into a "shouting match", with Trump "cursing all the time".

War Correspondent Tim Mak on the War in Ukraine (Al Franken podcast)

Donald Trump rolled out the red carpet for Vladimir Putin in Alaska last month and came up empty handed… No ceasefire, no concessions, nothing. So what does the future of the war in Ukraine look like? We turn to journalist Tim Mak who has been based in Kiev since the start of the war. Tim is the founder of The Counteroffensive, a Substack that chronicles life in Ukraine and the agony of this war.

Tim breaks down the current state of the war, and he’s not too optimistic about the possibility of peace anytime soon. 70% of Ukrainians believe the war will still be going on a year from now. And if a deal is struck, how does the world make sure that Russia doesn’t just attack again?
