Disney, ABC battle Trump's FCC in court over free speech protections : NPR

"There's not even a question as to what Carr is doing. What Carr is doing is unconstitutional," says Mark Fowler, a Republican former FCC chair under President Ronald Reagan. Fowler has filed a statement to aid ABC's lawsuit in which he likened Carr's actions to censorship. "The First Amendment is very plain in its wording and its meaning," he says…

Jimmy Kimmel’s Interview with James Talarico That the FCC Doesn’t Want You to see

Jimmy’s interview with Democratic Senate candidate from Texas James Talarico was not televised because of threats from the FCC so we're hosting their discussion here on YouTube. James talks about Republicans being scared of him winning, Jesus being co-opted by MAGA, the RNC Convention being held in Texas, not taking money from corporate PACs, Trump calling him a “freaky guy” and having second thoughts about endorsing his opponent Ken Paxton, and the GOP making it harder for people to vote.

‘Trump’s roving censor’: Top Senate Democrats demand Brendan Carr end Disney review - POLITICO

The letter, led by Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey, called the review a “blatant effort” to punish Disney, which owns ABC, for refusing to acquiesce to President Donald Trump’s demand to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel over a joke he made about the president. Carr, who announced the review a day after Trump’s demand, has said it’s the result of the agency’s year-long investigation into Disney’s diversity, equity and inclusion practices, a claim rejected by Democrats...

Harry Sisson Sees Signs of Democrats FINALLY Winning the Internet (Find Out podcast on YouTube)

Since losing the 2024 election, the Democratic Party has been under scrutiny for lagging significantly in the digital creator, podcast and influencer game. Podcasters like Theo Von, Andrew Schulz, and Joe Rogan all played a big role in influencing Gen Z males to turn out for Trump. But as Trump has lost support amongst this demographic, has the Democratic Party learned anything? We welcome Harry Sisson on this episode to weigh in on how the party is catching up to the Republicans regarding their digital presence and how that positions the Democrats for both the 2026 midterms and the 2028 presidential election.

Did anything else significant happen in the news this week? Yes, we will cover the inadequate security situation at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. We'll dig into conservatives and the GOP's shameless hypocrisy regarding gun control and shootings and we'll have a spirited debate about violent political rhetoric. Speaking of which, we'll also cover Melania Trump's idiotic feud with Jimmy Kimmel and Trump demanding ABC fire him over a joke.

Carr throws ABC licenses into jeopardy in clash with Disney - POLITICO

The FCC has broad leeway to consider Disney’s character and whether it is operating in the public interest, but policy veterans worry Carr is violating the First Amendment by using government power to squelch speech disfavored by the president...

Jimmy Kimmel defends Melania ‘widow’ joke after the Trumps call for him to be fired

Kimmel pointed out he made the joke three days before the alleged assassination attempt. “Obviously, it was a joke about their age difference and the look of joy we see on her face every time they’re together,” he said. “It was a very light roast joke about the fact that he’s almost 80 and she’s younger than I am. It was not – by any stretch of the definition – a call to assassination. And they know that. I’ve been very vocal for many years, speaking out against gun violence, in particular.”

“But I understand that the first lady had a stressful experience over the weekend, and probably every weekend is pretty stressful in that house,” he continued. “And also, I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject. I do, and I think a great place to start to dial that back would be to have a conversation with your husband about it. Donald Trumpis allowed to say whatever he wants to say, as are you and as am I. Because under the First Amendment, we have, as Americans, a right to free speech.”…
