Nick Fuentes’s Strategy is Working (The Atlantic)

Viral clips of the far-right white supremacist are growing his audience.

“Trump is better than the Democrats for Israel. For the oil and gas industry. For Silicon Valley. For Wall Street. Is he really better for us? I don’t think so,” Fuentes declared while gazing at the camera in one of these fan-uploaded clips. “Biden made it so that medical debt doesn’t go on your credit report—that was good for me. Biden tried to forgive the student loans—that was good for me.” Retouched in a tasteful black and white, the video featured an orchestral soundtrack that crescendoed as the fast-talking, besuited polemicist delivered his final punch: “The free market says that Republicans have enough money to bomb Iran but not enough money to pay for my student loans. And I’m going to vote for that ’cause I’m an idiot.”

MAGA Catholics, Antisemitism & Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission Implosion (Sarah Posner; Reign of Error podcast #005)

On this episode of Reign of Error, investigative journalist Sarah Posner unpacks the implosion of Donald Trump’s White House Religious Liberty Commission after a chaotic hearing at the Museum of the Bible exposed deep fractures inside the MAGA coalition. Former beauty queen and recent Catholic convert Carrie Prejean Boller sparked outrage with antisemitic rhetoric tied to right-wing influencer Candace Owens, igniting a public feud with Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and drawing backlash from conservative Catholics and evangelicals alike. Posner and scholar Matthew J. Cressler explore how debates over Zionism, Christian nationalism, and the phrase “Christ is King” reveal a growing split between traditional religious-right leaders and a digitally fueled Catholic far-right operating in Trump’s social media ecosystem.

The conversation traces how figures like Nick Fuentes, Owens, and other MAGA Catholics deploy antisemitic tropes rooted in older Catholic anti-communist and anti-Jewish traditions, now amplified by online platforms and political patronage. From clashes over Vatican teaching and Christian Zionism to tensions with evangelical allies, this episode examines whether the MAGA movement’s Catholic wing is on a collision course with both the broader GOP and the institutional Church. Plus, in this week’s “Anti-Doom,” Posner highlights a federal court ruling restoring a slavery exhibit removed under Trump’s executive order—an important victory in the ongoing fight over American history and truth.

Matthew J. Cressler, Ph.D. is a writer, independent scholar, and chief of staff of the Corporation for Public Interest Technology. He is the author of Authentically Black and Truly Catholic: The Rise of Black Catholicism in the Great Migrations and creator of Bad Catholics, Good Trouble, the educational webcomic series. He’s written for America, The Atlantic, National Catholic Reporter, The Revealer, Slate, U.S. Catholic, and numerous academic journals. He co-reported the Religion News Service series “Beyond the Most Segregated Hour,” which won a Wilbur Award from the Religion Communicators Council. He has two forthcoming books under contract: the co-authored Body & Blood: Catholic Horror in America, due out from NYU Press this Halloween, and Catholics and the Making of MAGA: How an Immigrant Church Became America’s Law and Order Faith, which is set to be published by HarperCollins in fall 2027.

MAGA infighting erupts at Turning Point USA Conference - POLITICO

"The people who refused to condemn Candace's truly vicious attacks — and some of them are speaking here tonight — are guilty of cowardice," Shapiro said, adding later: "If you host a Hitler apologist, Nazi-loving, anti-American piece of refuse like Nick Fuentes … you ought to own it."…

Preaching the Gospel of Church-State Separation (Andrew Seidel; One Nation, Indivisible podcast Episode #043)

Andrew has been on the road preaching the gospel of church-state separation in houses of worship. But first, we begin (and end) with a remembrance of Christopher Hitchens, who died on Dec. 15, 2011. Then Andrew breaks down why, even as an atheist, traveling around the country and giving talks in synagogues and churches is important. Monte Mader joined Andrew in Nashville and the event has Andrew thinking (link coming later). Andrew also muses about Nick Fuentes’s answers to Piers Morgan and about how modern masculinity can look a lot like high control religions.

The Firewall Against Nick Fuentes Is Crumbling - The Atlantic

He was soon back to making incendiary comments. During a lengthy back-and-forth in which he and Carlson found common ground on matters of gender, Fuentes said that "your wife ultimately is subordinate to you" and intimated that no-fault divorce gets in the way of relegating women to their supposed natural lower status…

Fuentes also gave some advice to Trump about the immigration crackdown in Chicago, where he lives. "Bring in the troops and say the federal government is supreme," he said. "The immigration law is the law of the land. If you're not on board with that, you're going to jail." Arrests aren't enough; there must be a total autocratic military takeover of Illinois. For years now, Fuentes has been both an embarrassment to the right and an indicator of what's brewing in the id of conservatism. Now that he has entered the fold of MAGA, his visions for a truly reactionary party are closer than ever to being realized.

Tucker Carlson’s Lovefest With a White Nationalist Just Blew Up the Christian Right – Mother Jones

"During his first term, Taylor noted, Trump made strong connections with influential figures in the New Apostolic Reformation, or NAR, a charismatic Christian movement that teaches followers to take "dominion" over all aspects of society, including government. Over the last decade or so, Christian Zionism has become an important part of NAR theology—so much so that during worship, some adherents now wear Jewish prayer shawls and blow shofars, the ram's horn instruments that ancient Israelites used to call troops to battle and still features in some Jewish holidays. This is an example of what Taylor refers to as philosemitism—the idea of loving Jewish customs and cultures. But within end-times theology lurks a dark side to Christian Zionists' fixation on Judaism. Once the Messiah arrives, many Christian Zionists are convinced that Jews will convert en masse to Christianity; in many versions, those who don't convert will perish."…

Nick Fuentes, America’s Next Top Racist - The Atlantic

In the eyes of Nick Fuentes, Vice President J. D. Vance can't possibly be the future of the Republican Party. "Vance is not going to be a racist," Fuentes said during a livestream last week. "You can't make me go and vote for some fatass with some mixed-race family." Fuentes, a 27-year-old influencer with more than 730,000 followers on X, showed his audience a photo of Vance with his Indian American wife and biracial kids in front of the Taj Mahal. "How would he possibly ever say that there is an ethnic basis for American identity?" Fuentes asked, referring to a far-right dream of turning America into a white ethno-state. "There's not even an ethnic basis for his family."…

Donald Trump's MAGA empire is crumbling

"There is only one political party and one candidate for the presidency that can claim the mantle of defender and protector of America's democracy, the Constitution, and the rule of law," Luttig wrote in a statement. "I will unhesitatingly vote for the Democratic Party's candidate …Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris."…

White Supremacist Nick Fuentes Spills About Mar-A-Lago Dinner With Trump | HuffPost Latest News

Trump "really has been a hero of mine," Fuentes added on the podcast. But he also indicated Trump — whom he referred to as a "moderate" — has to step it up if he has any hope of winning the presidency in 2024.
…Trump praised Fuentes at the dinner, sources told The New York Times and Axios. "He gets me," the former president said, according to the Times.
