Scientist cited in push to oust Harvard’s Claudine Gay has links to eugenicists

In 2018 the Anti-Defamation League pointed toUnz Review's "increasingly racist and anti-Semitic content", in a year in which Unz himself "denied the Holocaust, endorsed the claim that Jews consume the blood of non-Jews … claimed that Jews control the media, hate non-Jews, and worship Satan". 

The other co-author, Curtis S Dunkel, is a psychologist who was affiliated with Western Illinois University (WIU) on the paper but is billed as an independent researcher on recent publications and on the ResearchGate website. The Guardian contacted WIU for clarification. A spokesperson said: "Curtis Dunkel is no longer an employee at WIU", adding: "I cannot comment on the reason for his departure." 

Dunkel, along with Kirkegaard and Woodley, spoke at the London Conference on Intelligence (LCI) in 2016, according to leaked conference schedules. Dunkel's paper was entitled Sex Differences in Brain Size Do Translate into Difference in General Intelligence, and the abstract suggests that Dunkel claimed that women were less intelligent than men by an equivalent of 4 IQ points on average.

Meanwhile, there's also a widespread understanding that if you do enough nonfiction writing, you'll end up with some sort of error of attribution somewhere in your work. Ackman, who called plagiarism "very serious" when talking about the charges against Gay, seemed to change his mind after his wife was accused of similar plagiarism…

CNN accuses Sheriff Clarke of plagiarizing master’s thesis — then ‘America’s Sheriff’ hits back

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, who recently said he accepted a position in President Donald Trump’s administration, allegedly plagiarized parts of his master’s thesis while at the Naval Postgraduate School in California.

According to CNN’s KFile, which first reported the news late Saturday, there are at least 47 instances in Clarke’s thesis on U.S. security where he failed to properly attribute a source that he directly quoted. The thesis, “Making U.S. security and privacy rights compatible,” was written for Clarke’s security studies master’s degree....

New allegations of plagiarism emerged Thursday against Monica Crowley, the incoming official in President-elect Donald Trump's administration who has been under fire for nearly a week over passages in her published work that appear to have been lifted.

Building on a Monday report by Politico Magazine that identified more than a dozen instances of suspected plagiarism in Crowley's Ph.D. thesis, which she submitted to Columbia University in 2000, CNN's KFile on Thursday published an examination that turned up nearly 40 such instances. Melania Wasn't the Only One: A Number of Republicans Plagiarized Their RNC Speeches...From Democrats

The controversy surrounding Melania Trump's speech on the first night of the Republican National Convention may have caused a few pundits to examine the other RNC speakers more closely. As it turns out, Melania Trump, who lifted an entire paragraph from Michelle Obama's 2008 address, wasn't the only one who plagiarized.

 “This is not about black America, white America or brown America… this is about the United States of America," Senate candidate Daryll Glenn (R-CO) said in his speech Monday. Similarly, President Obama said in his 2004 Democratic National Convention keynote address, “There is not a black America, and a white America, and Latino America and Asian America, there’s the United States of America.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) also took words from 2004's Democratic National Convention speeches for his RNC speech. “I have a message to deliver and let me say it loud and clear, help is on the way," Cotton said Monday night echoing then-Democratic nominee John Kerry's words: "To all who serve in our armed forces today I say, help is on the way.”

The Trump campaign spent most of the day trying to explain why large chunks of Melania Trump’s speech were lifted from Michelle Obama’s address to the 2008 Democratic convention.

Now, Donald Trump Jr. faces similar accusations regarding a portion of his speech. A passage on education reform, first flagged by the Daily Show’s Twitter account, appears to be lifted from a May article in the American Conservative....

Paul Manafort - Trump campaign chair pins Melania plagiarism story on Hillary Clinton's campaign

Donald Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort said the most-covered story from the first night of the 2016 Republican National Convention was fed to the press by Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Trump’s wife, Melania, was the headline speaker Monday night in Cleveland, but it appears she borrowed some words from a 2008 speech by Michelle Obama. Read our comparison of the two speeches here.

"There’s a political tint to this whole issue," Manafort said in a televised statement July 19. "The Clinton camp was the first to get it out there and try to say there was something untoward about the speech that Melania Trump gave. It’s just another example, as far as we’re concerned, that when Hillary Clinton is threatened by a female, the first thing she does is try to destroy the person."

Given the extensive media coverage of this story, we were curious about Manafort’s claim that the Clinton campaign planted it.....

Melania Trump's speech plagiarizes parts of Michelle Obama's

Donald Trump's presidential campaign doesn't plan to fire anybody or to take disciplinary action over the controversy surrounding Melania Trump's plagiarism of Michelle Obama, CNN learned Tuesday. 

Trump's campaign hopes to simply move on without further addressing questions about the speech.

Aides to the presumptive Republican nominee are scrambling to move past the imbroglio after a passage in Melania Trump's speech Monday night, which headlined the Republican National Convention's opening night, closely mirrored a portion of Michelle Obama's address to the Democratic National Convention in 2008.

It's set off infighting and finger-pointing within Trump's campaign, and two sources told CNN that Donald Trump himself is furious about it....
