Warren Buffett criticises Wall Street as Apple investment pays off.

The billionaire Warren Buffett, whose stock picks have turned Berkshire Hathaway into one of the most successful conglomerates in the world, criticised Wall Street on Saturday, saying investors should “stick with low-cost index funds”.

The much-scrutinised annual letter to shareholders from the man many investors call “the Oracle of Omaha” also revealed that Berkshire Hathaway’s gain on its investment in Apple stands at more than $1.6bn, after shares of the iPhone maker surged.

Unlike last year, Buffett, a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton, did not mention President Donald Trump by name. He did, however, talk up the vibrancy of American society and its inclusion of immigrants, one of the most polarizing issues under the Trump administration....

Warren Buffett is still bullish on America.

The Berkshire Hathaway CEO has long been a believer in the economic power of the American people and its institutions and that opinion does not appear to have changed in his 2016 Annual Letter to Shareholders.

Trump off-base on Buffett, Soros deductions

Facing scrutiny over possibly not paying federal income tax for almost two decades, Donald Trump turned the tables on Hillary Clinton during the heated second presidential debate. The New York Times obtained a few pages of Trump’s 1995 personal tax returns, revealing a $916 million loss that would have allowed him to legally avoid paying taxes for 18 years.

Trump didn’t deny this and instead claimed Clinton backers Warren Buffett and George Soros did the same to a larger extent. "Many of her friends took bigger deductions. Warren Buffett took a massive deduction. Soros, who is a friend of hers, took a massive deduction," he said.

We wondered if this was accurate....
