Since the movie was released and its numerous flaws became apparent to objective observers, True the Vote and D'Souza have engaged in multiple rounds of finger-pointing. When D'Souza's accompanying book was pulled from shelves and allegations about specific nonprofit groups stripped out, True the Vote denied that it had been involved in identifying those organizations. Now D'Souza notes that his analyses "operated in good faith and in reliance on True the Vote."…

How 'mule watchers' evolved from a Truth Social meme into a ballot drop box patrol
No such drop box fraud has ever been found in significant numbers. But that has not stopped conspiracy theories about "ballot mules" — who supposedly secretly drop off hundreds of fake ballots in the middle of the night at drop boxes or election sites nationwide — from taking hold on pro-Trump parts of the internet. The conspiracy theory got its biggest boost from the widely debunked propaganda film "2,000 Mules," which alleges such mules somehow changed the outcome of the 2020 election, even though repeated hand counts of ballots recertified the results...

D'Souza had previously described left-wing nonprofits as "doing vote trafficking."
The newly-released book tones down that phrase to "potentially storing ballots."…

What's inside the recalled version of Dinesh D'Souza's "2,000 Mules" book? : NPR
The film also claimed that True the Vote used data from the nonprofit Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED) to show that the ballot "mules" were leftist agitators. A spokesperson for ACLED told NPR in May, "This is not the type of analysis you can use ACLED data for, and it is highly unlikely that these conclusions have any basis in fact."
D'Souza nonetheless repeats those claims in the book...

To be clear, there are no potential illegal activities revealed in conservative activist Dinesh D'Souza's film. It is centered around the idea that thousands of people were paid to submit ballots in drop boxes in the 2020 election — the titular "mules," described using a term meant to evoke drug smuggling — but completely fails to provide any evidence to that end. It certainly creates the impression that such activity occurred, which is the point, but that's by no means the same thing...

…The Associated Press said the film is burdened by "gaping holes"; Washington Post analyses characterized its findings as "dishonest" and "misleading"; The Daily Beast said the movie is "stupid"; and Bulwark found it to be so bad that it's unintentionally "hilarious."
The Bulwark's piece added that "2000 Mules" is a "tour de force exploring the limits of how many suckers there are willing to pay for fantasy."…
