The GOP reconciliation bill is advancing in the House!
The GOP bill is designed to advance an explicitly Christian nationalist agenda — from massive tax breaks for religious schooling to attacks on reproductive health care, this bill is a blueprint for using public money to entrench religious extremism. Please act today, and urge your representative to vote against this bill!
This bill includes the Educational Choice for Children Act, a federal voucher scheme that provides a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for donations to private school scholarship funds — primarily religious schools. These schools can discriminate against LGBTQ-plus students, reject children with disabilities and teach dogma with taxpayer backing.
The bill also expands 529 education savings accounts — originally intended to help families save for college — to cover unregulated homeschooling expenses, which can include religious textbooks, instruction and even online classes. It raises the K-12 tax-free withdrawal cap to $20,000 per child and explicitly allows funds to be used for sectarian curricula.
Lastly, this bill aims to defund Planned Parenthood and reproductive health care by cutting off Medicaid and Title X reimbursements to Planned Parenthood, targeting reproductive health access under the guise of budget reform. It's a backdoor abortion ban rooted in religious ideology, not public health.
The reconciliation bill isn't just a budget — it's a policy arm of a theocratic movement. It aligns perfectly with the goals of Project 2025 by dismantling secular government, defunding science-based services and entrenching Christian dominance in public life. Please call your representatives today and urge them to fight against this bill!
