Jon Burge joined the Chicago Police Department in 1970, serving in various investigative posts and as commander from 1986 until his firing in 1993. He was convicted in 2010 of lying about the torture of suspects. Special prosecutors had alleged Burge and his so-called midnight crew of rogue detectives led the torture of criminal suspects for two decades, coercing dozens of confessions....
