A trio of Democratic military veterans is urging Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to drop his support for Donald Trump amid an escalating fight between the GOP presidential hopeful and the family of a slain Muslim soldier.
The Democrats say they're "horrified" at Trump's repeated attacks on Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of deceased U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, characterizing the takedowns as "slander" and calling on Ryan to rescind his endorsement.
"Your continued endorsement of Mr. Trump's hateful, bigoted and sexist vision threatens the integrity of the House of Representatives in which we serve," Reps. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) and Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), all freshmen who have served on active duty, wrote in a letter to Ryan Monday....
