When President Trump was first asked whether he might wear a mask as part of the push to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, he shrugged. “I’m choosing not to do it, but some people may want to do it and that’s okay,” Trump said during a briefing in early April. He explained further a bit later: “As I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens … I don’t see it for myself. … I just don’t.”
