It may be an understatement to say 2018 has been a rough year for Facebook. The company has been accused of aggressive tactics that push competitors out of the market. It faces growing concerns over privacy and how it uses – and misuses – personal data. And governments have raised questions about Facebook’s affect on democracy, itself.
As online campaigns circulate urging users to shut down their accounts, lawmakers in Washington wonder whether it is time change the way it regulates Facebook and other tech giants.
