Tony Perkins: The Johnson Amendment Must Be Repealed Because “the Church Predates Government”
Anti-gay Christian Right leader Tony Perkins appeared on CNN with host Michael Smerconish yesterday morning to discuss Donald Trump‘s desire to repeal the Johnson Amendment. If he succeeded, religious leaders could endorse political candidates from the pulpit while still maintaining their tax exemptions.
It’s a horrible idea — both for society and religious groups — so no wonder Perkins defended it....
