The MAGA movement and the radical traditionalist Catholicism the provides one stream or religious legitimation for it aims to preserve the power and authority of White men in America. 

So many express surprise or confusion when they learn that J.D. Vance, the Republican nominee to Vice President in the 2024 election, is married to an Indian-American woman who is the daughter of Indian immigrants, and that his own children are of mixed ethnic heritage. 

How can that be? How can one of the most prominent spokespersons for the MAGA movement embody such a seemingly obvious contradiction?
