Rick Wilson was a Republican who helped get Republican candidates elected. He became disillusioned as he saw the party rely for success increasingly upon falsehoods and the denial of reality. He left the Republican party, and became a co-founder of The Lincoln Project to help defeat many Republican candidates, including Trump. Among other topics in this interview is mention of the Stuart Stevens book It Was All a Lie: How the Republican Party Became Donald Trump. This interview occurred just hours prior to the attempted coup of 1/6/2021, and his remarks reflect his observations of risks and work to be done to promote democracy in the U.S.
