For the first time since Trump's ascent a high-ranking GOP Elected has excoriated him. Senator Sasse of Nebraska may be a safe bet for re-election next month, but that doesn't minimize the impact of his cascade of criticisms of the would-be dictator. Sasse, recorded during a private call with constituents, went on a 10-minute rant blaming Trump for ignoring Covid-19 and then butchering the response. And he rolled on, noting Trump "kisses the butts of dictators," and sells out our allies, and disrespects women, and is costing the Republicans a generation of voters. And just as startling, when the Washington Examiner newspaper ran the tape past Sasse's spokesman, there was no attempt to deny it, or no-comment it. He fully embraced the remarks and left the impression that this could be the proverbial "run on the bank" by Republicans seeking to get off Trump's sinking ship.
