On September 9, CNN and The Washington Post reported that Donald Trump had privately acknowledged to journalist Bob Woodward the seriousness of the novel coronavirus and COVID-19 last winter while also acknowledging that he wanted to downplay the pandemic.
Fox News personalities immediately and repeatedly whitewashed the revelations, instead defending Trump, claiming the real problem is that he talked to Woodward at all, and portraying Trump as the hero for misleading the American public.
