Thiel's vision of the antichrist may not be holistic enough. In the first lecture, where Thiel proposes that the catastrophes we see in the various end-of-days narratives in the Bible are threatening to play out literally in our day. He says we shouldn't think of "the apocalyptic prophecies in the Bible … in a mystical way", but almost as "rational scientific calculations of what people will be able to do to themselves in a world in which human nature is not changed or improved".
