Interview with Kristin Du Mez, author of "Jesus and John Wayne" (Hemant Mehta and Jessica Bluemke, The Friendly Atheist podast #412)

Hemant and his guest talked about whether white evangelicals corrupted their faith, whether the religion is a force for good, her advice to pastors looking to fix toxic masculinity, skinny jeans, and much more.

In this solo episode, Hemant interviewed Kristin Kobes Du Mez, author of the New York Times bestseller Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation. The book attempts to explain why white evangelicals overwhelmingly supported Donald Trump, despite all the non-Trumpy values they claimed to hold dear before he came along, by looking at the history of evangelical culture.
