Actor Will Smith said he has been called racial slurs by police officers on numerous occasions in Philadelphia where he grew up. “I grew up in Philadelphia. I grew up under Mayor [Frank] Rizzo, [he] went from chief of police to becoming the mayor, he had an iron hand,” Smith said as part of a virtual conversation about being Black in America with Angela Rye. Smith added that he had been called racial slurs by cops in Philadelphia on “more than ten occasions.”
