A federal judge sentenced Roger Stone, a longtime friend of President Trump, to more than three years in prison on Thursday. Attorney General William Barr intervened on Stone’s behalf after President Trump tweeted that the initial sentence of nine years recommended by prosecutors was too harsh.
Deliberations began in the case of former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. He faces five criminal charges, including sexual assault and rape, stemming from testimonies given by two women.
The Boy Scouts for America filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday in the face of 275 lawsuits by former members alleging sexual abuse by scout leaders. The scouts have already paid over $15 million in settlements and legal costs in the last several years.
