In a paper published in Phytochemistry, researchers at the University of Guelph showed how the Cannabis sativa plant produces cannflavin A and cannflavin B. These two compounds, molecules known as flavonoids, were shown in 1985 to be about 30 times more effective than aspirin at reducing inflammation.
