http://democracynow.org - The race for the White House was jolted on Friday when FBI Director James Comey notified congressional leaders that the agency had discovered more emails as part of its probe into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email system. The emails were discovered as part of an investigation into former Congressmember Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin. Abedin reportedly stored hundreds of thousands of emails on Weiner’s computer, which was seized by the FBI after Weiner allegedly sent illicit text messages to a 15-year-old girl. Comey notified Congress before the FBI had even obtained a warrant to look at Abedin’s email. A warrant was reportedly issued over the weekend. On the campaign trail, Donald Trump welcomed Comey’s announcement, which came just 11 days before Election Day. Hillary Clinton is not alone in criticizing James Comey’s actions. A bipartisan group of former federal prosecutors signed an open letter, writing, "Many of us have worked with Director Comey; all of us respect him. But his unprecedented decision to publicly comment on evidence in what may be an ongoing inquiry just eleven days before a presidential election leaves us both astonished and perplexed."

Police, armed with Taser, shoot and kill 66-year-old Bronx woman instead
At 66 years old, Denise Danner had a “history of erratic behavior,” according to her neighbors. On Tuesday, police were called to her Bronx apartment because she was naked and wielding a pair of scissors. A police sergeant who responded to the scene was able to talk the woman into dropping the scissors without harming her but, according to the New York Police Department, the woman then approached the officer with a bat after dropping the scissors. The officer then shot Danner in the torso. She was transported to a local medical center, where she died....

The Democratic Party on Wednesday asked a federal judge to hold the Republican National Committee in contempt for “supporting and enabling” Donald Trump’s efforts to “intimidate and discourage minority voters from voting in the 2016 Presidential Election.”
The motion is a drastic move for the Democrats, who have repeatedly raised alarms about the Trump campaign’s call for poll monitors to watch for “voter fraud,” noting that such calls likely violate a decades-old consent decree prohibiting the RNC from engaging in “ballot security” activities at polling places.

Donald Trump has again questioned the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email practices as secretary of state, this time by citing a connection between a Virginia state Senate race and a man who would become the FBI's deputy director.
Trump spoke about the latest Clinton controversy during Florida campaign stops in Sanford on Oct. 25 and the night before in Tampa.
"One of the closest people to Hillary Clinton, with longstanding ties to her and husband -- the closest person, I can tell you that … gave more than $675,000 to the campaign of the wife of a top FBI official who oversaw the investigation into Mrs. Clinton's illegal email server," Trump said at the Sanford rally. "In other words, the man who was in charge of the investigation of Hillary Clinton accepted essentially from Hillary Clinton $675,000 that went to his wife."

Donald Trump attracted the most attention at an Oct. 13 rally in Florida for denying allegations that he had groped multiple women and for floating a variety of conspiracy theories. But he also offered some economic statistics.
